Davis Named to Daktronics All Region Baseball Team
University of the Sciences sophomore shortstop Kyle Davis has been named to the 2011 Daktronics East Region All-Region team as a second team selection. Voting for the team is done by the region’s sports information directors.
Davis (Garnet Valley High School/Garnet Valley, Pa.), a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First Team All-Conference honoree, played and started in all 36 games for the Devils at shortstop, leading the team in batting with a .309 average. (ninth best in the CACC). The sophomore shortstop also had the second best batting average in the conference in the Devils 20 CACC games this year, hitting .385. Davis also led the Devils in hits (43), runs scored (24) and tied for the team lead with seven stolen bases. His 120 assists at shortstop are the second most ever in a single season by a Devils player, behind the 129 assists he had as a freshman.
In two seasons in a Devils uniform, Davis has played in 76 games, sporting a .328 career batting average with 94 hits in 287 at-bats. His 94 hits include 17 doubles, two triples and a home run. He ranks 18th on the Devils all-time hit list and is tied for 17th on Sciences’ all-time doubles list as well as the school’s all-time stolen base list (15).
Davis has completed his second season of play for the Devils and is an exercise sciences major.
