Davis, McMahon Named To Baseball All-CACC First Team
University of the Sciences shortstopKyle Davis and starting pitcher Dan McMahon have been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball All-Conference Team in voting done by the leagues 11 coaches and released by the conference office today. Both McMahon and Davis were First Team honorees.
Davis (Garnet Valley High School/Garnet Valley, Pa.) and McMahon (Millville High School/Millville, N.J.) are just the second and third baseball players in program history to earn First Team All-CACC honors since the baseball team began CACC play in 2000, joining Michael Curry (2008).
McMahon has pitched 11 games this season for the Devils, starting ten. He currently leads the CACC with a 1.25 earned run average and has a 6-2 record. He has 66 strikeouts in 79 1/3 innings pitched. McMahon ranks eighth nationally in earned run average and 11th nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (5.33). The sophomore hurler also has held opposing batters to a .171 average, second best mark in the league.
Davis leads the Devils in batting with a .307 average (11th best in the league). The sophomore shortstop also had the second best batting average in the Devils 20 conference games this year, hitting .385. Davis also leads the Devils in hits (39), runs scored (23) and is tied for the team lead with seven stolen bases. His 113 assists at shortstop are the second most ever in a single season by a Devils player, behind the 129 assists he had as a freshman.
The two players are in their second season of play for the Devils. Davis is an exercise science major while McMahon is currently part of the schools pre-professional program.
