Devils' Season Ends with loss to Post at CACC Tourney

Post University's Tom Sirois allowed just three hits as the University of the Sciences baseball team's season came to an end with a 4-0 loss to the Eagles in the losers bracket game of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Devils finish the season with a 14-22 record.  Post improves to 23-17.

The Eagles tagged starter Luke Peyton with two runs in the first inning which would be all they would need as Sirois limited Sciences to just one hit out of the infield and three total.

Sciences did not get their first baserunner of the game until the fourth inning when senior designated hitter Pete LaRocco drew a two-out walk.  Dennis Murphy delivered the Devils first hit one inning later, a bunt single down the third base line.

Still trailing 2-0, Jeff Murtha led off the sixth inning with a bad hop infield single.  After Nick Szalejko replaced Murtha at first via a fielder's choice he advanced to second on a groundout but remained there as the Devils could not capitalize on the situation with a runner in scoring position.  Post then added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 4-0.

Mark Perry led off the seventh with a double to left field, the Devils only hit that made it to the outfield in the game.  For Perry, it was his 33rd career double, tying him for the Devils all-time lead with Ken Bevenour.  Perry's hit turned out to be the last baserunner the Devils would get as as Sirois set down the eight batters to finish the complete game effort.

Peyton pitched 5 2/3 innings, striking out five and giving up all four runs.  He finishes the season with a 4-5 record.
