Devils Win Tri-Match at Whitemarsh
Jason Franck tied for medalist honors as the University of the Sciences mixed golf team won their second tri-match of the 2010-11 season Monday, defeating Penn-State Abington and host Chestnut Hill College at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The Devils recorded a team score of 341, five strokes better than Penn state Abington (346). Chestnut Hill did not have enough golfers finish to produce a team score. USciences record for the season now stands at 17-23.
Franck turned in a score of 84, 11-over par and tied with PSU's Nick Ostash. Franck parred nine of the 18 holes enroute to his score of 84. Joseph Mauro recorded an eagle three on the par five 17th hole enroute to finishing with a score of 85, one stroke behind Franck and tied for third place with teammate Ian Byerly. In addition to his eagle, Mauro added six par scores while Byerly parred seven holes and recorded a birdie on the par five fifth hole.
Matthew Garin rounded out the Devils four scorers, shooting 87 and finishing tied for sixth. Garin had a birdie on the par three 16th hole and also shot par on six other holes. Joseph D'Uva added a score of 88 and Patrick Cliggett shot 89 to round out the Devils competitors.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, competing at the Neumann university Quad Match at Brandywine Country Club.
