Byerly Leads Devils to Tri-match Victory
Ian Byerly earned medalist honors with a score of 81 as the University of the Sciences golf team recorded a tri-match victory over Philadelphia University and Chestnut Hill College Saturday afternoon at the ACE Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The Devils defeated the Rams of Philadelphia University by two strokes, 348-350 while Chestnut Hill College did not have four golfers finish and recorded no team score.
Byerly's 81 was two strokes better than Philadelphia's Tim Gobrecht who shot 83 on the afternoon. A pair of Sciences golfers, Jason Franck and Joseph D'Uva finished tied for third with scores of 85. Patrick Cliggett rounded out the Devils four scorers with a ninth place finish and a score of 97. The Devils fifth golfer competing, Anuj Patel shot 99.
Gobrecht's 83 led the Rams followed by Ryan O'Donnell and Brandon Capone with scores of 88. Nick Mull and Darryl Bachman led Chestnut Hill with scores of 98 and 99.
Sciences is back in action on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 when they compete at Philadelphia University's Fall Tournament at the ACE Club.
