Devils Finish Eighth at Swarthmore Fall Invitational
Competing in their third match of the fall season, the University of the Sciences golf team finished in eighth place amongst the 14 teams participating at the Swarthmore College Fall Invitational at Rock Manor Golf Club on Monday.
The Devils produced a team score of 345, one stroke behind Swarthmore's "B" team and 40 strokes behind their "A" team who placed first with a score of 305. Rosemont College was second with a score of 318 and Ursinus College was third (321). USciences golf team's record is now 10-12-1.
Patrick Cliggett led the way for the Devils with a score of 80 on the par 71 course, tying for 12th place amongst the 78 golfers competing. Ian Byerly followed with an 82 finishing in a tie for 18th place.
Rounding out the Devils top four scorers were Joseph Mauro and Matthew Garin. Mauro shot 88 while Garin shot 95. Ryan DeLorraine, the Devils fifth competitor, shot 96.
Two USciences golfers also competed as individuals in the tournament. Joseph D'Uva shot 78 and finished tied for eighth place overall and Zach Chirico shot 88, placing 41st overall.
The Devils return to action on Monday, September 26, 2011 when they face Philadelphia University at the ACE Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
