PREVIEW: Men’s Golf Set to Compete at 2017-18 CACC Championships This Weekend

MIDDLETOWN, Del. – The University of the Sciences men's golf team will compete in the 2017-18 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships, which for the first time in league history are being held in the Fall, at the par-71 Back Creek Country Club in Middletown, Del. on Oct. 1-2.

Round one will begin on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m., with round two beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 2. 

USciences will be looking to improve on its 10th place finish from this past April at the 2016-17 Championships.

Austin Staiano led University Sciences in April as he placed in a tie for 36th with a two-day total of 170, which included a team-best round of 80 in the second round.

Notably, Staiano matched that round of 80 this past weekend on the first day the Charger Classic on Saturday, Sept. 23 for University of the Sciences' best round of the season.

Andy Ring and Mitchel Storb also competed at the 2016-17 Championships, finishing one stroke apart with two-day totals of 172 and 173, respectively.  

Ring and Storb are both coming off their best rounds of the season after carding an 81 and 82, respectively, on day two of the Charger Challenge this past Sunday, Sept. 24.

Making their CACC Championships debut will be freshmen Nik Athmann and Drew Grover.

Athmann is also coming off his best round of the season after shooting an 86 on day one of the Charger Challenge, while Grover's best round of 94 came on Sept. 10 at the Swarthmore-Neumann Invitational.
