Four Spring Student Athletes Earn CACC Weekly Honors

Four University of the Sciences student athletes competing in spring sports were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly honor roll for their performances last week.

Named to the CACC Baseball honor roll were catcher Dennis Murphy (St. Joseph Prep HS (Pa.)/Mullica Hill, N.J.) and pitcherLuke Peyton (Haddonfield HS/Haddonfield, N.J.).  Softball catcher/outfielderErin Summers (Pitman HS/Pitman, N.J.) was also honored as was men’s tennis player Roger Van Scyoc (Palmyra Area HS/Palmyra, Pa.).

Murphy started at catcher in all four USciences games this week, batting .533 with eight hits and five runs batted in.  Dennis hit safely in all four games and had a three-hit four-RBI effort in the Devils 10-4 win over Chestnut Hill.

Peyton started the Devils second game against Chestnut Hill throwing seven shutout innings while giving up just five hits and striking out five.

Summers set a school record for RBI in a game when she drove in seven in the Devils 12-2 win over Chestnut Hill.  Erin hit two home runs in the game, tying her own school record.  For the week, Summers batted .500 with eight hits and eight RBI.

Van Scyoc won all three of his singles matches last week while playing at the #5 singles slot.  Roger also recorded a 2-1 record in doubles while competing in the #3 position.
