Adefemi Named CACC Player of the Week
New Haven, Conn. (1/24/11) – University of the Sciences men's basketball player Adewale Adefemi has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for his performance during the week ending January 23, 2011.
This is Adefemi’s (Winslow Township High School/Chesilhurst, N.J.) first Player of the Week award of the season. He had been named to the conference honor roll four times in the previous eight weeks of the 2010-2011 season. Adefemi is the first Player of the Week selection from the University of the Sciences since Chris Brattelli was honored back on December 6, 2004.
In the Devils lone game last week, Adefemi recorded his seventh double-double of the season, posting 27 points and ten rebounds. It was his third double-double in the last four games. ‘Wale made 11 of 17 shots from the field including a 7-for-10 effort in the second half. Adefemi also made five of six free throws and added two blocks an assist and a steal in his 34 minutes on the hardwood.
In the Devils 13 games this season, Adefemi has been the Devils leading scorer in all but three. He currently leads the Devils, averaging 17.0 points per game (fifth best in the CACC) and 10.3 rebounds/game (second in the CACC).
The former Winslow Township High School athlete is in his fourth and final season of play for the Devils. Adefemi is one of just ten men’s basketball players in the programs 110-year history to record over 1,000 points and grab over 700 rebounds. His 1,239 points place him 21st on the Devils all-time list while he is tied for eighth on the Devils all-time rebounds list with 744. ‘Wale is a pharmaceutical Marketing and Management major at the University of the Sciences.
