Mann-Barnes Named CACC Co-Rookie of the Year
New Haven, Conn. (3/1/11) – University of the Sciences freshman men’s basketball player Tyrone Mann-Barnes has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) 2010-11 Co rookie of the Year in voting done by the leagues 13 coaches and announced by the conference office today. Mann-Barnes shares the honor with Khaleev Ginyard of Dominican College.
Mann-Barnes (Collingswood High School/Woodlynne, N.J.) ranks 18th in the conference with 13.0 points per-game, is tied for eighth with 1.6 steals and eighth with 2.12 three-pointers made per-game. Mann-Barnes helped lead the Devils to a No. 4 seed for the CACC Tournament. It is the program’s first playoff appearance since 2007-08.
The 6’0” freshman guard has started every game this season; is second on the Devils in scoring and leads the team with 51 three point field goals. Tyrone is the seventh men’s basketball player in the history of the program to make 50 or more three-point field goals in one season and his season total is the 12th highest single season total all-time. Mann-Barnes is second on the team in steals (40) and third on the team with seven blocked shots.
The former Collingswood High School is in his first season of play for the Devils. Mann-Barnes is a Pharmaceutical Business major at the University of the Sciences.
