Men’s Basketball Selected Third in CACC South as League Releases Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of the Sciences men's basketball team was selected to finish third in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Southern Division as the league released the 2017-18 CACC Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll on Wednesday afternoon.

Jefferson and Bloomfield were the unanimous selections to capture the respective Southern and Northern Divisions.

Goldey-Beacom was slotted one spot ahead of USciences in second in the South. Rounding out the Southern portion of the poll was Wilmington, Holy Family, Chestnut Hill and Georgian Court.  

University of the Sciences has qualified for the CACC Tournament by placing in the top-four of the CACC South in each of the last five years. The Devils have reached double-digit conference wins in each of those five seasons.

USciences finished its 2016-17 campaign at 13-15 overall and 11-8 in the CACC. The Devils won 11 of their last 15 regular season games before falling in the CACC Quarterfinals to eventual champion Bloomfield. 

University of the Sciences returns three of its top four scorers from a season ago, including CACC Defensive Player of the Year Flo Da-Silva and All-CACC Second Team selection Will Gregorits.

USciences opens its season on Friday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. against LIU Post as part of Wilmington's Tip-Off Classic. The Devils then face NYIT the next night, Saturday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. 

University of the Sciences' home-opener is on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. versus Lincoln.
