PHILADELPHIA – Flo Da-Silva of the University of the Sciences men's basketball team was honored as the Philadelphia Area Small College Coaches Association's - which features 27 schools - Sam Cozen Player of the Week on Monday.
Da-Silva is coming off a performance in which he neared a triple-double with 18 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals in USciences' Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opening win over Holy Family on Saturday. The senior fell on rebound shy of his second-career double-double.
Da-Silva made a layup that put University of the Sciences on top 78-76 with 2:03 remaining for the game's final lead change. He then made three free throws in the final 20 seconds to help the Devils hold off Holy Family for an 85-81 victory.
For the season, Da-Silva is leading the CACC and ranks fifth in the NCAA with 3.3 steals per game. He is also second in the league with 5.1 assists per game and tied for sixth at 7.5 rebounds per game. His 12.1 points per game are in the top-30.
USciences has won two straight games and currently sports a 5-3 record heading into its next game on Tuesday, Dec. 5, when the Devils host Georgian Court in CACC action at 8 p.m.
