Men’s Tennis Team Defeats East Stroudsburg

David Kazekevich and Alvaro Vargas remained undefeated in dual match play as the University of the Sciences men's tennis team closed out the fall portion of their 2010-11 season with a 7-2 win over East Stroudsburg University on Sunday in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. 

The Devils improve to 3-1 overall while East Stroudsburg dropped to 0-1. 

Kazekevich and Vargas moved to 3-0 on the season as a doubles team with an 8-3 win over Zach Ontell and Will Norris at #1 doubles.   The two newcomers on the Devils squad are also 4-0 in singles play.   Kazekevich defeated Jared Rosenberg 5-7, 6-2 , 1-0 (10-6) at #1 singles while Vargas defeated Andy Makos 6-2, 6-3 at #2 singles. 

In the remaining two doubles matches, Julian Katzev and Paul Bedway defeated Mark Covert and Dalton Barton 8-6 at #3 doubles while Francisco Garcia and Bill Fine lost their #2 doubles match, 8-5 to Rosenberg and Makos. 

Garcia and Fine however came back to win their respective singles matches.  Fine recorded a 10-5 pro-set win over Covert at the #4 singles slot while Garcia was a 10-7 winner at #3 singles, defeating Ontell.   Sciences remaining singles win came at  the number 6 singles slot as William Metz made his collegiate debut with a 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) win over Sean Ryan. 

The Devils will resume competition in the spring of 2011.
