Kazakevich Named CACC Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
University of the Sciences freshman men’s tennis player David Kazakevich has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for his performance during the week ending April 24, 2011.
In earning Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, Kazakevich (Council Rock North High School/Richboro, Pa.) scored the Devils only two points by winning his doubles and singles matches in the Devils only contest last week, a 5-2 loss to Philadelphia University in the semi-finals of the CACC Championship Tournament.
Kazakevich teamed up with Alvaro Vargas to record an 8-3 win at number one doubles over Adrian Torroella-Cruz and Manoli Sgouros. The Richboro, Pa. native followed that with a 6-3, 6-4 straight set win over Kyle Burke at the number two singles spot.
For the season, Kazakevich is 10-4 overall in singles competition and 11-4 in doubles play. The Devils currently have a 9-7 record and are waiting to see if they earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship.
