Marauders Edge Devils
Millersville University overcame a 2-1 deficit by winning four singles contests as they edged the University of the Sciences men's tennis team 5-4 in a regional matchup in Millersville Pennsylvania on Sunday.
Sciences drops to 7-5 overall with the loss.
The Devils #2 and #3 doubles teams staked the visitors to a early 2-1 lead with Bill Fine and Francisco Garcia defeating Ryan Knarr and Henry Ben, 86- at #2 doubles and Paul Bedway and Roger Van Scyoc defeating Tyler Lied and Tyler Reppert by an identical 8-6 score.
Van Scyoc was also one of the two USciences players to win their singles match, defeating Colton Brown 6-1, 6-1 at #5 singles. David Kazakevich was the other winner, taking down Drew Slocum in the #2 singles slot, 6-4, 6-3.
Alvaro Vargas (#1 singles); Garcia (#3); Fine (#4) and Chris Lukose (#6) all lost their respective matches, leading to the Marauder win.
The Devils return to conference play on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 with an important matchup against Chestnut Hill college at the McNeil field Courts. Both the Devils and the Griffins are currently tied for third place with a 2-2 conference record.
