Solid Start for Mens Harriers at DVC Invitational
The University of the Sciences men's cross country team got their 2010 season off to a solid start at Saturday's Delaware Valley College Invitational in Doylestown, Pennsylvania as their first five finishers all crossed the line in under 30 minutes to give the Devils a seventh place finish amongst the 23 schools competing.
The Devils scored 177 points, 32 behind sixth place Ursinus
College. Messiah College won the race with 47 points,
20 ahead of the Devils CACC rival Felician College. The
Devils were 2nd amongst the three CACC schools
competing.
Junior Georgiy
Polyak (Delaware Valley
HS/Dingman's Ferry, Pa.) was the Devils top finisher,
crossing the line in 23rd place overall with a
personal-best time of 28:43.76. Senior Pete
Grant (St. Joseph's Prep
HS/Springfield, Pa.) was 29th
overall, finishing in 28:57.65 while junior Marty
Farrell (Monsignor Bonner HS/Drexel Hill,
Pa.) returned to action after missing last season
with a foot injury to finish 40th overall with a time of
29:42.20.
A pair of sophomores rounded out the Devils top five with
Mike
Pecorino (Monsignor Farrell
HS/Staten Island, N.Y.) finishing right behind
Farrell in 41st place with a time of 29:42.20 and
Robert Glass
(Highland Regional HS/Blackwood, N.J.)
recording a personal best time of of 29:46.54 to finish in
44th place, giving the Devils five sub-30 minute
finishers for the first time ever at the Delaware Valley College
meet.
Sophomore Christian
Radzinski (Neshaminy
HS/Langhorne, Pa.) and junior Francisco
Garcia (Don Cesar Gascon/ Buenos
Aires, Aregentina) rounded out the Devils top seven
scorers. Radzinski finished in 85th place overall
with a time of 31:18.76 while Garcia was 90th overall
with a time of 31:23.04.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 11, 2010
when they compete at the Wilmington University Invitational at
Carousel Park in Wilmington, Delaware.
