Four Top Ten Finishes Lead Devils to Second Place Trophy at Wilmington Invite
The University of the Sciences men's cross country team had four runners finish amongst the top ten as they took home the second place trophy at Saturday's Wilmington University Invitational at Carousel Park in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Devils finished with 40 points, just 12 behind first place Philadelphia University who had five runners in the top 10 and finished with 28 points. The Devils were also second amongst the four Central Atlantic collegiate conference teams competing.
Junior Georgiy Polyak led the Devils for the second consecutive race, placing fifth overall with a time of 29:33.02. The next three runners to finish were also members of the Devils squad with sophomores Mike Pecorino and Rob Glass placing sixth and seventh with times of 30:02.96 and 30:06.09 respectively. Senior Pete Grant was eighth finishing just a second behind glass with a time of 30:07.12.
Sophomore Christian Radzinski rounded out the Devils top five with a 16th place finish and a time of 31:15.88, giving the Devils a 1-5 gap time of just 1:42.86, the smallest gap amongst the schools competing in the meet.
Juniors Marty Farrell and Tuynh Nguyen rounded out the Devils seven scorers, placing 18th and 19th respectively with times of 31:44.52 and 32:00.68.
After a bye week next weekend, the Devils return to action on Saturday, September 25, 2010 when they compete at the Philadelphia Metro Championships at Belmont Plateau.
