Farrell Paces Devils to Fourth Place Finish at Cabrini Invitational
Junior Marty Farrell was the first runner from the University of the Sciences men's cross country team to finish at Saturday's Cabrini Invitational at Belmont Plateau, leading his team to a 4th place finish amongst the 13 schools competing.
The Devils finished with 121 points, trailing third place Philadelphia University by 18. Felician College won the race with 34 points while Rutgers-Camden took second with 72 points.
Farrell finished the race in 13th place overall with a time of 29:12.14. Junior Georgiy Polyak was second Sciences runner to finish, crossing the line in 23rd place with a time of 29:41.85. Polyak becomes just the eighth runner in program history to complete the classic five-mile Belmont course in less than 30 minutes, joining teammate Farrell who has now accomplished this feat twice, one of just five runners in program history to do that.
The Devils next three finishers all crossed the finish line within 35 seconds of each other with senior Pete Grant placing 33rd with a time of 30:45.89; and sophomores Rob Glass and Christian Radzinski placing 37th and 38th with times of 31:15.17 and 31:19.62.
Junior Tuynh Nguyen and sophomore Mike Pecorino rounded out the Devils top seven finishers with times of 31:44.00 (41st place) and 31:48.73 (43rd place).
The men's cross country team's next race will be the Central Atlantic collegiate Conference championships held at Belmont Plateau on November 7, 2010.
