Devils End Season with Eighth Place Finish at CACC Championship
The University of the Sciences men's cross country team saw their season come to and end on Sunday as they finished in eighth place at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championships at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
The Devils finished the meet with 170 points, 12 behind seventh place Goldey-Beacom College (158). Felician College placed their top five runners in the top ten overall to capture the team title with 25 points. The Golden Falcons also captured the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award.
A trio of seniors led the Devils in the race. Georgiy Polyak was USciences' first finisher, placing 19th overall with a time of 29:35.70. He was followed by Marty Farrell and Tuynh Nguyen. Farrell was 27th overall with a time of 30:20.19 and Nguyen was 36th overall with a time of 30:54.13.
Juniors Rob Glass and Christian Radzinski rounded out the Devils top five, finishing 43rd and 45th respectively. Glass completed the five mile course in 31:23.85 while Radzinski was just 12 seconds behind him with a time of 31:35.54. Freshmen Christopher Noce (50th, 32:50) and ChiedozieChukwuneke (62nd, 35:20) completed the Devils list of competitors.
The race concludes an injury plagued season for the men's team, which saw USciences top five runners ran together a s a team just three times during the season. The Devils did record top ten finishes in four of their five regular season races, including a third place finish at the Wilmington Invitational in September.
