Men’s Cross Country Team Competes at Paul Short Invitational

The University of the Sciences men's cross country team had their top runners competing together as a unit for the first time in nearly a month as they competed at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on Friday.

The Devils ran to a 38th place finish amongst the 45 schools that had competitors in the race.   The top five Devils formed a nice pack as well, with all five of them finishing within 41 seconds of each other, the second smallest 1-5 gap in the race behind Mary Washington's 0:20.

Three of the Devils top five finishers broke the 30-minute mark for the 8,000-meter race led by junior Rob Glass.  Glass recorded a personal-best of 29:43 to place 190th overall amongst the 357 runners who finished.  Right behind Glass were seniors Georgiy Polyak and Tuynh Nguyen both crossing the line in 29:49.

Christian Radzinski followed with a time of 30:01 and Marty Farrell rounded out the top five with a time of 30:24.   Francisco Garcia was the sixth Devils' runner to finish, completing his race with a time of 32:00 and while freshman Chiedozie Chukwuneke rounded out the top seven with a time of 32:25.

The Devils conclude their regular season on Friday, October 7, 2011 when they defend their team title at the Goldey Beacom Invitational at Carousel Park in Wilmington, Delaware.
