Men’s Harriers Finish Third at Wilmington
A solid effort was turned in by the University of the Sciences men's cross country team as they battled their way to a third place finish in Saturday's 11th annual Wilmington University Invitational at Carousel Park in Wilmington, Delaware.
This year's third place finish marks the fourth consecutive year the USciences men's team has placed in the top three at the Wilmington race, having placed third in 2008 and 2009 and second last season. The Devils finished with 66 points, well ahead of fourth place Lincoln University (106). Second place went to Bloomfield College with 59 points while host Wilmington University captured the team title with 39 points.
Senior Tuynh Nguyen recorded his best time ever on the Wilmington course, finishing the 8,000-meters in 31:21.16 and placing seventh overall. Junior Rob Glass was eighth with a time of 31:29.34 while Christian Radzinski was the third Devil to finish, crossing the line in 11th place overall with a time of 32:08.55.
Rounding out the Devils top five were senior Francisco Garcia and freshman Warren Hayward. Garcia was 22nd overall with a time of 34:46.63 while Hayward was 28th with a time of 35:13.
Chiedozie Chukwuneke, Christopher Noce and Adam Sosnowik rounded out the Devils eight competitors in the race. Chukwuneke was 31st overall with a time of 35:47 while Noce was 32nd with a time of 35:51. Sosnowik was 36th with a time of 36:58.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 24, 2011 when they compete for the first time this season at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia at the Philadelphia Metro Championships.
