Junior Tim Storino and freshman Christopher Robison ran a sub-30 minute race at Belmont Plateau for the first time in their careers as the University of the Sciences men's cross country team placed ninth at the 2015 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championship Meet on Sunday.
Storino's (Roman Catholic HS/Philadelphia, Pa.) and Robison's (Middle Township HS/Delhaven, N.J.) efforts marked the first the time a pair of Devils runners have broken the 30-minute plateau in the conference championship meet since the 2010 race when juniors Georgiy Polyak and Marty Farrell ran 29:07 and 29:16 respectively. Storino finished in 17th place overall with a time of 29:24.5 while Robison was 26th overall with a time of 29:40.0.
The Devils ninth place finish equaled their finishing position from last year. The Devils scored 200 points, six behind eighth place Philadelphia University and 12 points behind seventh place Felician College.
After Robison crossed the finish line, nearly three minutes passed before the next Devils runner finished the 8,000-meter course as senior Tommy Mauro (Carbondale HS/Carbondale, Pa.) cross the line in 32:22.9. Billy Librizzi (Cedar Creek HS/Galloway, N.J.) and Chiedozie Chukwuneke (J.P. Stevens HS/Edison, N.J.) rounded out the Devils top five with times of 32:40.4 and 32:42.0.
Rounding out the Devils seven competitors were David Wilds (Haverford HS/Havertown, Pa.) and Christopher Noce (Salesianum HS/Mullica Hill, N.J.). Wilds finished in 33:19, his best time ever at Belmont Plateau while Noce completed his final 8K race at Belmont Plateau in 35:58.9.
