PHILADELPHIA – The University of the Sciences cross country program has released its schedule for the upcoming 2018 season, with the Devils set to first run at the Wilmington University Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Carousel Park.
That will be the first of six events for USciences in 2018, with three taking place at the home course of the Devils - historic Belmont Plateau.
One of those three is the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Cross Country Championship –hosted by Jefferson - on Sunday, Oct. 28.
The other two are the Philadelphia Metro Cross Country Championship on Saturday, Sept. 8 and the Jack St. Clair Memorial on Saturday, Oct. 13.
University of the Sciences will also run at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh, on Saturday, Sept. 29.
The Devils close out the season at the NCAA East Regional Championship at Bethpage Polo at the Park in Bethpage, N.Y. on Saturday, Nov. 17.
The USciences women's cross country team returns 8-of-10 runners from a squad that placed in the top-half of the field in sixth at the 2017 CACC Championship. Highlighting those returners is rising junior Elizabeth Sauers, who has earned All-CACC honors in each of her first two seasons after a third place finish a year ago.
Rising senior Regan Asay will look to earn All-CACC accolades (top-15) for the first time after placing in the top-23 in each of her first three appearances. The Devils will also be boosted by the return of redshirt-sophomore Gabby Moss, who placed 18th as a freshman in 2016.
A year after featuring no upperclassmen on its roster, rising junior Scott Jacobs will give the USciences men one lone upperclassman on the 2018 team.
The Devils will be bolstered by the return of rising sophomore Johnathan Epstein, who finished just one spot and one second out of All-CACC honors at the 2017 Championship.
