Devils Rifle Takes On Navy & US Coast Guard

Annapolis, Md. - This weekend the UScience Rifle team traveled to the U.S. Naval Academy to take on the #14 nationally ranked Midshipmen of Navy and the #21 ranked US Coast Guard Academy.  Although it was a dull and dreary rainy day it was hot and all smiles inside as the Devils lit up the range with their performances. Although both teams fell to Navy and USCGA, the Devils posted 5 career highs in Smallbore and 4 in Air rifle.

Once again the UScience Women's team thumped the Mixed team recording a 4244-4194 (2100-2096 smallbore / 2144-2098 in Air rifle).

Smallbore

Freshman phenom Sarah Schnupp led the women to victory with a 562 in her first collegiate smallbore match. Co-Captain Minhee Kang posted a 522 which was closely followed by Rachel Hubal's career best 517.  Rounding out the team score was Lauren Stabler with a career high 499. Other scores that day were Co-Captain Allie Tuman with a 505 and Christina Ta with a 485.

For the Mixed Team, Vermont native and freshman Andrew Visconti led the pack with a 547 in his first ever collegiate smallbore match!  Co-Captain Nick Zsoldos recorded a career-best 539 and Co-Captain Matt Popowicz contributed a sound 523. Rounding out the team was Andrej Quatrone's 487.  Chris Makosiej and Christian Ruffin recorded a 442 and 421 respectively.

Air Rifle

In the Air rifle competition, Sarah Schnupp again led all UScience Devil athletes with a 570.  She was followed by an amazing performance from Lauren Stabler, who broke her career high by 22 points and finished with an impressive 540. Christina Ta contributed a 519 while Co-Captain Minhee Kang rounded out the 4th spot with a 515.  Co-Captain Allie Tuman was not to be outdone either as she too recorded a career-best 530 and Rachel Hubal a 465.

The Mixed Team saw Andrew Visconti lead the pack tying his collegiate career best of 552.  Co-Captains Matt Popowicz and Nick Zsoldos contributed career bests of their own with a 532 and 525 respectively. Andrej Quatrone and Christian Ruffin both contributed a 489 to the effort this day which was followed by Chris Makosiej's 483.

The Devils are off this weekend and return to action Oct 22 at home vs. John Jay College of Criminal Justice.  Once again the Devils will have the opportunity to utilize their new portable Air rifle range.  Stop on by and take a look if you are in the area!
