Philadelphia, Pa. - The University of the Sciences rifle team hosted the Zips of Akron University at the Colonel William Shea rifle range over the weekend. The Devils once again lit up the range with their performances which included 6 career bests in smallbore and one in air rifle. However, despite the gritty performances in both disciplines, the USciences teams fell to the Zips in the NCAA match.
The Devils recorded final scores of 2192 in smallbore and 2187 in air rifle.
Freshman, Sarah Schnupp led all UScience athletes with a career-best 573. New York native and freshman Andrew Visconti posted a final score of 554. Co-Captain Nick Zsoldos was close behind with a 544. Fellow Co-Captain Matt Popowicz competing only in smallbore on the day knocked out a total score of 521 to round out the Devils lineup.
In the Air rifle competition, Sarah Schnupp again led all UScience Devil athletes with a 573. Visconti followed up his smallbore effort with a 550 on the air rifle range. Zsoldos tallied a 527 respectively, while Minhee Kang came in with a 496 to round out the final slot for the Devils.
