Coach Padula Announces 2017 Recruiting Class

Coach Padula Announces 2017 Recruiting Class

The incoming class for the University of the Sciences softball program has six student athletes from three different states. The Devils will add speed and athleticism to their infield and outfield, along with the addition of another arm into their pitching rotation.

"I am very excited about the athleticism and maturity of this incoming freshman class. They all have competed at a high level during travel ball and have been successful. I'm looking to have them come in and be competitive right away to continue their successful ways. This class will push our current athletes as well as fill in some holes from the graduating seniors," Head Coach Shannon Padula said.

Madison Elie – Outfield

Rosary High School – California

Major: Psychology

Maddie comes to USciences after a successful travel and high school career playing for Team Easton - Burkhardt in the summer out of California. Maddie was named captain of both her summer and high school teams. A 4-year letter winner for her high school team, Elie is also involved with Women's Ensemble, Let-It-Be Foundation and Key Club. Elie has also earned scholar-athlete honors for three years at Rosary High School. Maddie will add more speed to our outfield and our lineup.

Sierra Fennell – Catcher/1st base

Savanna High School – California

Major: Physical Therapy

Sierra comes to USciences after a successful career in high school as well as on the same travel team as Maddie Elie with Team Easton – Burkhardt. Maddie and Sierra have experience playing together so that will help them adjust to the college world together. Sierra is a tall catcher who has a lot of power, which will make an impact right away.

Keiya Moncilovich – 1st Base/Catcher

Gloucester County Institute of Technology -  New Jersey

Major: Physical Therapy

Keiya comes to USciences from a successful high school program where current senior Brooke Chisholm also attended. As the starting first basemen for the past 3 years, Moncilovich has been a part of two NJ Technical Athletic Conference Championships (2015, 2016). During the summer, she plays travel ball for the Jersey Jaguars, also where Chisholm played and currently helps during the summer. Knowing Brooke will help Keiya adjust to USciences and the collegiate game easier. She has played at a very high level which will help her transition to college softball. Moncilovich has good height and power with an impressive glove.

Savanna Ruppert – Pitcher/Infield

Brandywine Heights High School – Pennsylvania

Major: Physician Assistant, Pre-Professional Program

Savanna comes to USciences after being a four-year starter and letter winner at Brandywine Heights High School where they recently won the Division III PA Championship. Also in those four years Brandywine Heights has won three division championships and two Berks County Championships. Ruppert was a three year all division pitcher and a three-year varsity captain. She was also awarded the 2017 Comeback Player of the Year away after missing part of the 2017 season due to an injury. Savanna was also a member of the National Honor Society and distinguished honor roll. Savanna is going to add to our depth as a pitching staff. I'm excited to add Savanna and lucky to land a high recruit so late in the process. Savanna comes from a highly respected travel program in the Central PA Krunch where she has received great experience to help her adjustment to college softball.

Jenna Theoret – Infield

Monroe Twp High School – New Jersey

Major: Physical Therapy

Jenna comes to USciences after a very successful high school and travel ball career. A three-time letter winner at Monroe Twp High School who won the 2015 Greater Middlesex Conference championship. Theoret competed with the NJ Heat travel organization and was their starting shortstop. A very athletic and powerful athlete, we will look to Jenna to contribute right away and give more depth to our middle infield.

Emily Torres – Outfield/Shortstop

Vineland High School – New Jersey

Major: Chemistry

Emily comes to USciences from Vineland HS and travel team South Jersey Rebels where she has been the starting centerfielder for both programs. Emily has speed and is very athletic so we are excited to add her to our program. She is an extremely hardworker and will look to learn even more from our experienced players.
