Devils Ranked Eighth in Women's Basketball East Region Rankings

The University of the Sciences women's basketball team entered this week's NCAA Division II East Region rankings  for the first time this season, entering the poll as the eighth ranked team in the region in a release by the NCAA today.  The  Devils are currently riding a 12-game winning streak and  sports an 18-4 overall record after Tuesday night's win over Philadelphia University. 


The Devils, coached by Paul Stadelberger, beat Caldwell College, last week's eighth ranked team on Saturday, 79-69 at Caldwell to earn their 11th straight win.  Senior Caitlin Shaw led the way for the Devils with 23 points while classmate Colleen Christian scored 15 of her 20 points in the second half.   Alyssa Hamm added 14 points.  Marissa Chesnavich and Shaw led the Devils with seven rebounds apiece while Melissa Rotz continued her solid play running the Devils offense, dishing out four assists.

The victory last week gave the Devils a 13-2 record in conference play, good for second place in the CACC South Division and one game behind first-place Holy Family University. This is Devils first appearance in the regional poll since the 2005-2006 season. 

This week USciences played Philadelphia University on Tuesday, extending their winning streak to 12 games with a win.   The Devils will conclude the week with home contests against Washington Adventist University on Thursday and Bloomfield College  on Saturday.  Both games will be played at the Bobby Morgan Arena
