Shaw Named CACC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

New Haven, Conn.(12/13/10) – University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women's basketball player Caitlin Shaw (Monmouth Regional High School/Eatontown, N.J.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance for the week ending December 12, 2010 

This is the second time this season that Shaw has been honored as the CACC Player of the Week, having earned the honors back on November 28, 2010.  Caitlin has also been named to the conference honor roll twice in addition to her two player of the week awards. 

Shaw led the Devils to a perfect 3-0 week, including a win over nationally ranked Millersville University (ranked #11) and wins in the Devils first two conference games this season.  The senior forward averaged 19.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting  65.6% from the floor (21-32) and 100% (15-15) from the free throw line. 

In the Millersville game, Shaw scored 20 points of 7-9 shooting from the field and 6-6 from the free throw line.  Caitlin also had nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal as the Devils pulled out a 68-62 win on the road.  Sixteen of her 20 points came in the second half. 

Two days later, the Eatontown, New Jersey native recorded her second double double of the season, a 16-point, 12-rebuond effort in the Devils 71-27 blowout at Wilmington University. Shaw made six of nine shots from the field and was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.  

Shaw opened the week with a 21-point effort against Georgian court University in the Devils CACC opener. She connected on eight of 14 shots from the field and made all five of her free throws.  Shaw also had seven rebounds and four assists. 

In the Devils eight games this season, Shaw is averaging a league leading 21.0 points per game while shooting 58.3% from the field (third-best in the league).  Caitlin is also ranked amongst the conference leaders in rebounding (10th at 8.2/game) and free throw percentage (8th at 81.2%). 

The former Monmouth Regional High School athlete is in her fourth and final season of play for the Devils. Shaw currently leads the Devils in scoring average, points scored (168), field goal percentage, rebound average and total rebounds (66).  She is second on the team in free throw percentage. Shaw is a physical therapy major in her first professional and fourth year overall in the institution's Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
