University of the Sciences sophomore guard Brianne Traub has been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball All Conference Team in voting done by the league's 14 coaches and announced by the conference office today. Traub was elected to the All-CACC Team as a First Team honoree. .
Holy Family University's Erin Mann was named CACC Player of the Year. Mark Miller of Holy Family was named CACC Coach of the Year and Nyack College and Chestnut Hill College were selected as recipients of the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award.
Traub (Eastern Christian High School/Wayne, N.J.) continued where she left off at the conclusion of 2011-12 when she earned CACC Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-CACC honors.
The sophomore guard earned CACC Player of the Week honors twice this year and is the current conference leader in scoring, averaging 18.7 points per game. Traub has started all 26 games for the Devils and ranks second on the team in rebounds (7.4/game), field goal % (44.2%), steals (1.8/game), and free throw % (64.2%). She is fourth on the team in assists (2.0/gm.).
In the Devils final regular season game, Traub became the first player in program history to score 450 or more points in their first two collegiate seasons wearing a Devils uniform. She is also just the sixth women's basketball player in school history to record 450 or more points in a season and the fourth to accomplish the feat in two or more consecutive seasons. Traub has reached double figures in scoring in 24 of 25 games she has played and has recorded six double-doubles on the season.
Traub equaled her career-high of 27 points in the Devils 75-60 win over Chestnut Hill College on February 12, 2013 and grabbed her career high rebound total of 16 against Philadelphia University on January 9, 2013
In just 55 career games, Traub has climbed into the Devils lists in several statistical categories, most notably ranking 15th on the Devils all-time scoring list. She is 11th on the Devils all-time free throw list with 254 and ranks 16th with 335 total field goals made.
The former Eastern Christian High School athlete is in her second season of play for the University of the Sciences. At Eastern Christian Traub, scored a school record 2,158 points while averaging 22.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and four steals per games over her high school career. She earned All-State Second Team honors twice, was a two-time All-State Non-Public First Team honoree and a two-time North Jersey Player of the Year. Traub is a pharmacy major in the institution's Doctor of Pharmacy program.
