Philadelphia, Pa. – It's been about three weeks since the University of the Sciences women's rifle team brought back the MAC Championship in both the small-bore and air rifle disciplines. Since the seasons end the Devils have taken eight of the 20 spots on the MAC All-Academic Team. Between the mixed and women's teams three of Devils shooters' earned high enough marks to be named to the CRCA Scholastic All-American Team.
In order to earn such an award a committee takes into account the athletes GPA as well as their shooting average. The top twenty student-athletes, who are not academic freshman, that attain the highest combined overall GPA multiplied by 190 and added to the highest final Small-bore or air rifle average will determine the final ranking. The small-bore or air rifle averages must be computed from at least five separate matches and then sent off to the conference for calculation.
With eight All-Academic awards coming to the Devils, USciences has two more shooters than any other school on the list achieving such accomplishments. The winners from both the women's and mixed side are as follows:
Wei Lin, Matthew Popowicz, Andrej Quatrone, and Christian Ruffin representing the mixed team.
The three Devils to be awarded the CRCA Scholastic All-American Honor are, Minhee Kang, Matthew Popowica and Wei Lin. These student-athletes have achieved a 3.2 GPA or higher in the fall semester of 2015 and scored a 520 or better in either small-bore or air rifle prior to Feb. 1st.
