Desiree Vassalotti remained undefeated in dual match singles competition but the University of the Sciences Women's Tennis Team dropped their third Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match of the season, 7-2 to Chestnut Hill College Tuesday at USciences' Bergman Courts.
Vassalotti (Sacred Heart HS/Vineland, N.J.) improved to 4-0 in dual match singles competition with an 8-0 pro-set win over Kristen Wasson at the #5 singles slot. Her singles win, however, was the only singles win recorded on the afternoon by the Devils as the Griffins took five of the six matches to cruise to the 7-2 win.
The Devils only other point came at the #3 doubles position where Bridget Frymoyer (Governor Mifflin HS/Shillington, Pa.) and Michelle Adamczyk (Nazareth Academy/Bensalem, Pa.) teamed up to defeat Regina Doherty and Wasson 8-4.
Adamcyzk dropped her #6 singles match but it turned out to be the closest singles contest of the afternoon, with Amber Lawrence eventually getting the win in the tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5). Chestnut Hill swept the top four singles positions with straight set wins in each.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, September 25, 2010 when the travel to face Georgian Court University in another CACC matchup in Lakewood, New Jersey.
