Devils Fall at Concordia
The women's tennis team dropped their fourth straight match, losing to Concordia College 8-1 Sunday at the Meyers Tennis Center in Bronxville, New York.
The loss drops the Devils record to 1-6 both overall and in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Clippers clinch at least a share the CACC regular season title and the top seed in the upcoming CACC playoffs with the win, improving to 7-0 both overall and in conference play.
The Devils lone point came without a single ball served as Desiree Vassalotti (Vineland, N.J.) got the point at #6 singles when Concordia's Maria Ortiz defaulted. Four of the remaining five singles matches were straight set shutouts by the Clippers, 6-0, 6-0 with Melissa White (Mullica Hill, N.J.) winning the only game in singles competition, losing at #3 singles, 6-1, 6-0 to Clara Catanzano.
White, teaming up with Sara Durham (Bridgeton, N.J.) also won a game in doubles competition but the duo dropped their #1 doubles match 8-1. The Devils also won two games at #3 doubles with Vassalotti teaming up with Michelle Adamczyk (Bensalem, Pa.) losing the match to Ortiz and Camilla Xavier 8-2.
The Devils will conclude their regular season on Monday, October 17, 2011 with a match at Philadelphia University.
