Women’s Tennis Opens Season in Impressive Fashion

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The University of the Sciences women's tennis team got its 2017-18 season off to a near perfect start, as the Devils took a short ride north and defeated Gwynedd-Mercy University of 8-1 on Monday evening.

USciences did not drop a set in singles play and also took two of the three doubles matches contested. 

Elkanah Linder moved into a tie for eighth in program history with her 17th career doubles win, as she teamed with freshman Danielle Paran for an 8-5 decision at the No. 2 flight.

The junior also won her No. 2 singles match 6-2, 6-2.

Karla Miletic and Abbygail Gamarnik joined Linder in winning two matches on the evening. The two paired for an 8-2 triumph at No. 1 doubles and then dropped a combined seven games in their respective No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches.

Julia James dropped just a team-low one game in singles play at the No. 4 flight.

Jillyan Serrano and Gabrielle Soriano rounded out University of the Sciences' winners on the day with victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

USciences opens Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play tomorrow, Sept. 12, with a 3:30 p.m. match at defending champion and preseason favorite Goldey-Beacom.
