Women’s Tennis Wins Final Two Matches in Three Sets to Overcome Jefferson

PHILADELPHIA – Trailing 3-4 with the final two matches coming down to a decisive third set, Han Le and Karla Miletic pulled out dramatic victories to lift the University of the Sciences women's tennis team over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Jefferson at the Abraham J. Salaman '58 Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.

After Jefferson took two of the three doubles matches, the two teams split the first four singles matches to finish to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Rams.

Just days after picking up her first career collegiate win, it was Le evening the score by pulling away for a 6-1 third set triumph at the sixth flight. She also took the first set by a score of 6-1 before dropping a tightly contested second 5-7.

That set the stage for the two No. 1 single players - Miletic and Marta Yevstakhevych. The two did not disappoint, with the final set coming down to a tight 6-4 decision in favor in Miletic as she completed a comeback after dropping the first set 4-6. The sophomore began her comeback by winning the second set 6-1 to move to a perfect 4-0 in dual matches.

Jefferson (4-4, 0-3) took the first singles match as well to quickly make the score 3-1, but Julia James pulled USciences back within a point with a comfortable 6-3, 6-1 decision at the fifth flight to move back to .500 overall at 3-3.

Once again Jefferson had the answer to go ahead 4-2, but this time it was Danielle Paran picking up one of her two victories on the day with her 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles.

Paran was the only Devil to win twice as she and Elkanah Linder picked up University of the Sciences' doubles victory with an 8-5 decision at the second flight for their team-best fourth dual win of the season.

University of the Sciences (3-2, 2-2) continues CACC play on Tuesday, Oct. 3 with a 3 p.m. match at Wilmington.
