Linder Makes History as Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Season in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla – Elkanah Linder made history, becoming the all-time winningest doubles player in program history, as the University of the Sciences women's tennis team began its spring season and spring break trip with a 7-2 victory over Saint Anselm on Sunday at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.

Pairing with Danielle Paran for an 8-5 triumph at No. 2 doubles, Linder surpassed Amanda Bedway's (2004-08) 10-year-old record with her 35th career doubles win.

A year after setting the program's single-season record with 15 doubles wins with Karla Miletic, Linder and Paran are now 12-3 together this season.

Also making history on the day was Jillyan Serrano, who moved into a tie for 10th in program history with her 20th career singles victory – a sweep at the sixth flight.

Linder and Paran were also winners in singles play, where USciences (8-5) won five of the six matches while dropping just 10 games.

Linder dropped just two game at No. 3 singles, while Paran dropped just three at No. 4 singles.

Abbygail Gamarnik and Julia James beat their respective second and fifth flight opponents 6-1, 6-1, with James picking up her fourth consecutive win.

Linder, Gamarnik and James are all now tied for second on the team with seven singles victories this season.

James also partnered with Gabrielle Soriano for an 8-2 decision at No. 3 doubles, with the duo improving to 2-1 together this season.
