The Bloomfield College women's volleyball team handed the University of the Sciences their sixth and final road loss of the season Saturday, defeating the Devils 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-23) in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

The loss drops the Devils record to 8-13 overall and 6-11 in Central Atlantic collegiate Conference games.  Bloomfield improves to 10-13 overall and evens their conference record at 9-9.
Freshman Lauren Mobley and senior Christine Puschak led the Devils with seven kills apiece while senior Cady Rich and freshman Diana Solomon added six each.   Senior Sarah Hickman had 20 assists and 12 digs.  Sophomore Sheryse Taylor led all players with 15 digs.  Freshman Coral Holly added 11 digs.   Rich led all players with 3 solo blocks.

Uerequenia Pereira led the offensive attack for the Lady Deacons, drilling 14 kills in the match, while Da'Cheray Thomas recorded 13. Brittany Devries and Evelyn Ferreira each totaled nine digs apiece.

The Lady Deacons got off to a hot start scoring the first six points of the match and eventually taking a 10-4 lead.  Sciences would rally, though, eventually closing the gap and moving to within a single point at 13-12 on a pair of kills by Puschak.  Pereira followed with two kills to put the Deacons back in command as they expanded their lead to 16-12 and scored six of the last nine points to win the set 25-17.

It was more of the same in set number two, as Bloomfield jumped out to a quick six-point lead through the frame's first 14 points and later expanded the lead to double digits, 16-6.The Devils would come to within seven points at 21-14 with a Solomon kill but could not come any closer as Bloomfield kept the seven point margin to forge a 25-18 win and lead the match 2-0.

Bloomfield again jumped out to an early lead in the third and final set, but the Devils kept things close, trailing by one 9-8 before a 6-2 run by the Lady Deacons put the Devils in a five-point hole 15-10.  The Devils continue to claw back and a kill from Rich brought them within two 18-16.  Sciences rallied and eventually pulled within one 24-23 before a kill from Thomas sealed the win and the match.

The Devils return home for their final two matches of the season, hosting holy Family University on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 and Post University on Saturday, November 6.  The Holy Family match tips off at 7:00 p.m. while the Post match is a 1:00 p.m. start.
