Chargers Deal Devils Another Loss

Dominican College used a well balanced attack as they handed the University of the Sciences women's volleyball team their fourth straight loss, 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-16) Saturday at the Bobby Morgan Arena in Philadelphia. 

The Devils fall to 5-8 overall and 3-7 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches with the loss.   The Chargers improve to 11-12 overall and 8-2 in league play. 

Senior Christine Puschak led the Devils with 15 kills while hitting .279 (3 errors, 43 attack attempts).   Freshman Diana Solomon added eight kills while senior Cady Rich had seven.   Senior Sarah Hickman had 26 assists and sophomore Sheryse Taylor had four service aces. Defensively Puschak and Rich had four blocks apiece.  Sophomore Stacey Wooden had 36 digs, setting a new-school record for digs in a four match set.  Solomon added 22 digs while Taylor and Hickman had 14 and 12 respectively.

Dominican was led by Michelle Fiorvanti with 13 kills. Kerianne Dudley added 11 while Randi Garrett tallied eight. Whitney Ranger had a game leading 32 assists, while Jordyn Fuller and Catherine Giordano contributed 25 and 21 defensive digs in the victory.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 when they host West Chester University in a regional non-conference match.   First Serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
