New Haven, Conn (November 10, 2010) – University of the Sciences women’s volleyball player Christine Puschak (Conestoga Valley High School/Leola, Pa.) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Conference Volleyball Team today as an honorable mention selection. The leagues 14 coaches voted on the CACC All-Conference Team.
Puschak, a senior middle blocker, was also named to the CACC All-conference Team as an honorable mention selection in 2007 and was the CACC’s rookie of the Year.
The USciences women’s volleyball team finished the season with a 9-14 record as Puschak started and played in every match. Christine led the Devils in attack percentage (.253) and service aces (37) and was second on the team in kills (184), kills/set (2.33), total blocks (50) and blocks/set (0.63). Puschak’s .253 attack percentage was fifth best amongst all the conference volleyball players. She was also ranked in the conference top ten in blocks and service aces.
The former Conestoga Valley High School athlete became the fourth volleyball player in program history to record 1,000 career kills, reaching the mark in the Devils final match of the season at home against Post University. Puschak closed out her career ranked fourth on the Devils all-time kills list with 1,010, third all-time with 184 career aces, fourth with a .236 career attack percentage and seventh all time with 229 career blocks.
Puschak is a pharmacy major in her second professional year in the institution's Doctor of Pharmacy program and has performed equally well in the classroom, earning Philadelphia Area All-Academic Volleyball Team honors twice (2008, 2009), First Team CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District Team honors in 2009 and second team in 2010 and was also named to the CACC’s all-Academic Team twice with this year’s team yet to be selected.
