Puschak Named to 2010 CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All District Volleyball Team
PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 8, 2010)– University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women's volleyball player Christine Puschak (Conestoga Valley High School/Leola, Pa.) has been named to the 2010 CoSIDA/ESPN College Division Academic All-District 2 Volleyball Team as a Second Team Selection.
Puschak, a first team Academic All-District selection in 2009, becomes the second volleyball player in program history to be named to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District team twice, joining Emily Roth' 08 who earned first team honors in 2004 and again in 2005, and was later named to the national Academic All-America team in 2005.
The District 2 College Division consists of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and District of Columbia. To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a minimum 3.30 grade point average and a starter or significant reserve on her team.
Puschak, a pharmacy major pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia recently completed her fourth and final season of play for the Devils. Christine currently boasts a 3.94 grade point average.
As a middle blocker, Puschak started and played in all 23 matches for the Devils, leading the team in hitting% (.253) and service aces(37). She ranks second on the team in kills (184) kills/set (2.33), total blocks (50) and blocks/set (0.63). Her .253 attack% ranks her fourth amongst Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball players. Christine was named to the conference honor roll twice this season.
The former Conestoga Valley High School athlete is a two-time Philadelphia Area All-Academic Volleyball Team selection (2008, 2009) as well as a two-time Division II Athletic Directors Association (D-II ADA) Academic Achievement Award winner (2008-09). As a freshman in 2007, Puschak earned Honorable Mention All-Conference and was named the CACC's Rookie of the Year. Career-wise Puschak finished her career ranked fourth on USciences' all-time list with 1,010 kills, third all-time in aces with 184 and seventh in total blocks with 165.
Puschak has been named to the Dean's List in each of her six previous semesters at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society in the spring of 2008.
