Wildcats Hand Devils their Third Straight Loss
Seniors Cady Rich and Christine Puschak combined for 12 of the Devils 20 kills as Wilmington University defeated the University of the Sciences women's volleyball team 3-0 Thursday night at Pratt Gymnasium in New Castle, Delaware.
The loss, the Devils third straight, drops their record to 5-7 overall and 3-6 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches. The Wildcats won the match via scores of 25-20, 25-10 and 25-12 to improve to 12-8 overall and 7-2 in league play.
Puschak and Rich had six kills apiece while Sarah Hickman added three. Diana Solomon and Hickman led the Devils with 11 and seven assists respectively. Stacey Wooden led all players with 15 digs while Coral Holly added 10. Rich and Sheryse Taylor each had two blocks.
The Wildcats were led by Nicole Wiechecki's 9 kills and 14 digs. Shannon Rumple recorded four of Wilmington's 14 aces against the Devils and also led the team with 15 assists. Brittany Biddle had four blocks.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 9, 2010 when they host Dominican College in CACC crossover match at the Bobby Morgan Arena. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
