Volleyball Team Loses at Caldwell
The University of the Sciences women's volleyball team lost their ninth consecutive match on Sunday, falling to defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tournament champion Caldwell College 3-0 at the Newman Center in Caldwell, New Jersey.
The scores of the match were 25-9, 25-14 and 25-18. The Devils drop to 0-9 overall and 0-4 in CACC games. Caldwell improves to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in league play.
Diana Solomon led the Devils with six kills while Amanda DeAngelo and Stacey Wooden added four apiece. DeAngelo paced the Devils with seven digs. Kaileen Bevenour had 16 assists. As a team the Devils finished the match with 18 kills along with 18 errors (.000 attack%); 24 digs and two blocks.
The Cougars notched 48 kills, led by Susan McDonough's 13. McDonough also paced Caldwell with 12 digs while Maddy Amon added 11 to their team total of 46. The Cougars also finished the match with six team blocks.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 24, 2011 when they host Bloomfield College and Southern Connecticut State University in a tri-match at the Bobby Morgan Arena. The Bloomfield match tips off at 11:00 a.m., and the Southern Connecticut match is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
