Devils Clipped at Concordia

The women's volleyball team dropped their third straight match Saturday as Concordia College handed the University of the Sciences a 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-23) loss in Bronxville, New York. 

The loss drops the Devils record to 3-16 overall and 3-10 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games.   USciences remains three games behind fourth place Georgian court in their quest for a playoff spot in the CACC South.  The top four teams qualify for the playoffs.  The Clippers with the win improve to 3-16 overall and 3-10 in league play. 

The Devils produced 24 kills in the three sets, led by junior Stacey Wooden's (Levittown, Pa.) eight. Wooden also had three aces to lead all players in the match.  Freshman Rachel Martin (Troy, N.Y.) added six and had three blocks.    Freshman Kaileen Bevenour (Sicklerville, N.J.) led the Devils with 14 assists and on the defensive side sophomore libero Coral Holly (Charlestown, R.I.)  had nine digs.   As a team the Devils had a .010 (24-23-98) attack percentage. 

Concordia's Juliann Gillespie came off the bench to lead the Clippers with ten kills while Amanda Margedant added seven.  Hillary Hoffman had 28 assists and seven digs.  Courtney Hanson also had seven digs.   The Clippers had a .097 (35-25-103) attack percentage.  

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, October 17, 2011 when they face Wilmington University on the road in New Castle, Delaware.   The Wildcats defeated the Devils 3-1 earlier this season at the Bobby Morgan Arena.
