USciences Announces 2011 Volleyball Schedule

The University of the Sciences athletic department announced its 2011 Women's Volleyball schedule on Wednesday.  The season tips off at the Kutztown University Classic on September 2, 2011.

The Devils will face host Kutztown University in the season opener at the Classic on Friday September 2 and take on a pair of Northeast-10 foes, Stonehill College and College of St. Rose on Saturday, the first two of five NE-10 opponents on the Devils non-conference schedule.

Goldey-Beacom College will be the Devils opponent in their home opener on Wednesday, September 7.  The match is also USciences Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener as the Devils look to improve upon last season's fifth place finish in the CACC Southern Division.  The contest against the Lightning is the first of six home matches in September.  The Devils will host CACC rivals Bloomfield College and Chestnut Hill College.  USciences will also have three regional non-conference matches against Bentley College, Pace University and Southern Connecticut State University, all NE-10 schools.

Conference play heats up in October as the Devils have a string of eight straight conference games before finishing off their non-conference schedule with a match at West Chester University on October 20.  After returning home to take on Felician College the Devils close out October with three straight matches on the road, including a trip to Waterbury, Connecticut to face Post University on October 29.  The Devils close out their regular season with a home match against Philadelphia University on November 1.

The CACC Tournament is set to begin on Saturday, November 5 with quarterfinal action. The tournament continues on the following weekend with the semi-finals and finals.  The semi-finals will take place on Friday, November 11 with the winners squaring off for the conference championship being decided on Saturday, November 12. Georgian Court will serve as host for the semifinals and the championship final.  The conference champion receives an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The University of the Sciences finished the 2010 season with a 9-14 overall record and a 7-12 mark in conference play, finishing in fifth place in the CACC Southern Division.
