University of the Sciences women's cross country runner Unicel-Anne Flores was recently named the 2010-2011 recipient of the Jule Ann T. Bravyak Keegan '85 Memorial Scholarship.
The Keegan Scholarship was established in 2007 by David Keegan to honor the memory of his wife Jule, a 1985 graduate of the institution, is awarded each year to a deserving female pharmacy student entering their first professional year in the institution's doctor of Pharmacy program.
Flores (McNair Academy/Jersey City, N.J.) was officially presented with the scholarship award at a ceremony at the Jule Ann Keegan Memorial Golf Outing at Trump National Golf Club in Pine Hill, New Jersey. Unicel is the third female athlete to receive the scholarship award in its four-year history. Golf Team member Lauren Wallis was the 2007 recipient while women's basketball player Melissa Rotz received the award in 2008.
A three-year member of the women's cross country team, 'Flo has competed in four of the Devils five meets this season, running her best 5,000-meter time ever at the Goldey-Beacom Fall Classic (23:23) and placing 20th overall. As a freshman she competed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship as well as the NCAA Division II East Regional.
Flores has been a Dean's List student in each of her four semesters at the University of the Sciences and is in her first professional year in the institution's Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
