The University of the Sciences women's cross country team placed five runners in the top 15 at Saturday's 8th Annual Goldey-Beacom Fall Classic to take home the team championship trophy.
The Devils scored 49 points to win the title, besting second place Wilmington University by nine points and third place Dominican College by ten. Sciences previous best finishes at the Goldey-Beacom race were a pair of third place efforts in 2005 and again in 2006.
Freshman Abby Kearns led the way for the Devils, turning in a personal best time of 20:54 to finish fourth overall. Second to cross the line for the Devils was sophomore Kristin Waters, placing eighth overall with a season-best time of 22:03.
The Devils next six finishers all turned in their best 5,000-meter times of the season with senior Allison Dargay leading the way with an 11th place finish and a time of 22:45. Three seconds behind Dargay was junior Kimberly Brown in 12th place with a time of 22:48. Jessica Kaminski rounded out the top five with a time of 23:09 and a 14th place finish.
Seniors Alyssa Hamm and Colleen Christian round out the Devils top seven finishers. Hamm was 16th overall with a time of 23:12 and Christian was 17th with a time of 23:20. In 18th place was junior Unicel-Anne Flores, who ran a personal-best time of 23:23.
The Devils are off next weekend and return to action on Saturday, October 24, 2010 for the Cabrini Invitational at Belmont Plateau.
