Devils Close Out Season with a 21st Place Finish at NCAA Regionals
Three members of the University of the Sciences women's cross country team ran their fastest 6,000-meter race ever and another two narrowly missed their personal-best as the Devils finished in 21st place at Sunday's NCAA East Regional Championship at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts.
Leading the way for the Devils was freshman Abby Kearns. Kearns finished in 72nd place overall with a time of 25:19, her second fastest 6K time ever. Kearns was joined by a pair of sophomores in finishing amongst the top 100 competitors, Kristin Waters and Jordan Lyons. Waters ran her fastest 6K ever, 25:55 and placed 95th overall. Jordan also had her fastest 6K time of 25:57 and was 97th place overall.
A pair of juniors rounded out the Devils top five with Jessica Kaminski recording a personal-best time of 27:02 enroute to placing 133rd overall. Kimberly Brown narrowly missed a personal-best by ran her best 6K since her freshman year, with a 137th place finish and a time of 27:08 as the Devils fifth finisher.
Senior Allison Dargay, competing in her fourth NCAA regional race, was the Devils sixth finisher with a time of 27:39. Allison becomes the sixth women's cross country runner in program history to have competed in four NCAA Regional meets. She closes out her career having competed in 29 of the Devils 30 races over the past four years.
Alyssa Hamm also closed out her collegiate cross country career at the regional meet. Hamm finished the race with a time of 27:54 and was the Devils seventh finisher. This was Alyssa's third NCAA regional and she competed in 21 of the Devils 22 races in her three years as a member of the women's cross country team.
