Women’s Cross Country Team Places Sixth at Metro Meet
The Devils, who have not had their top five runners compete together as a unit in any race yet this season, scored 173 points, 28 behind fifth place finisher Nyack College. Philadelphia University won the meet, placing five runners in the top ten overall to finish with 27 points.
Senior Kimberly Brown led the Devils with a time of 23:00.25, finishing in 26th place overall. Junior Kristin Waters returned to action after missing the first two races of the season with an injury to finish in 35th place overall with a time of 23:21.94.
The Devils top five were rounded out by a trio of freshman, led by Melissa Humble, who ran a personal-best time of 23:40.84 to place 40th overall. Jen O'Laughlin followed in 42nd place with a time of 24:12.91. Shreena Chopra was 49th with a time of 24:23.73.
Seniors Jessica Kaminski and Unicel-Anne Flores rounded out the Devils top seven scorers. Kaminski was 53rd overall with a time of 24:36.09 and Flores was 62nd overall with a time of 25:15.09.
The women's cross country team returns to action on Friday, October 1, 2011 when they travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to participate in the prestigious Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University.
