Lyons Lead Women’s Harriers at Paul Short
Junior Jordan Lyons ran her best 6,000-meter time of the season as she led the University of the Sciences women's cross country team to a 32nd place finish at Friday's Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The Devils scored 804 points to trail Merchant Marine Academy by 12 points. Kutztown University won the race with a score of 69 points. A total of 46 schools had runners competing in the race. The race also marked the first time this season that the Devils had their top five runners competing together in the same race.
Lyons completed the 6K race with a time of 25:39 to place 97th overall out of 335 runners in the race. It was Lyon's fastest 6K time of the season and her seconds fastest of her career behind the 25:21 she ran at last year's Paul Short Race.
Kristin Waters was the next Devils to cross the finish line, placing 162nd overall with a time of 26:36. Melissa Humble followed finishing in a personal-best time of 27:00 and senior Kimberly Brown narrowly missed a personal best, crossing the finish line in 27:04. Classmate Jessica Kaminski rounded out the Devils top five runners with a time of 28:19
Jen O'Laughlin and Emily Christiansen rounded out the Devils top seven with each of them recording a personal best time. O'Laughlin finished in 29:18 and Christiansen 30:10. Jaclyn Viola rounded out the days competitors with a finishing time of 31:50
The Devils conclude their regular season on Friday, October 7, 2011 when they defend their team title at the Goldey Beacom Invitational at Carousel Park in Wilmington, Delaware.
