Devils Record Fourth Top Five Finish of Season at Jack St. Clair Race

The University of the Sciences women's cross country team closed out their regular season Saturday afternoon with a fifth place finish at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial Cross Country Championship meet at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia. 

USciences' fifth place finish marks the fourth "top five" finish by the Devils this season in their five regular season races.  Their fifth place finish is also one spot higher than the team placed in last year's Jack St. Clair Race when they recorded a sixth place finish.  Head-to-head vs. all opponents through the team's five regular season meets the team is 71-23. 

The Devils finished with 151 points to earn their fifth place finish amongst the 20 schools and running clubs that placed runners on the starting line.  Philadelphia University won the meet with 42 points followed by St. Thomas Aquinas College with 70.  Georgian Court University and the Greater Philadelphia Track Club finished tied with 95 points with the Lions of GCU awarded third place via the tiebreaker.  

Senior Brianna Ligotski (Holy Redeemer HS/Hanover, Twp., Pa.) led the way with a 13th place overall finish with a time of 25:23 for the 6,000-meter course.  Freshman Regan Asay (Ridge HS/Basking Ridge, N.J.) placed 16th overall and finished in 25:29.6. Senior Grace John (Council Rock North HS/Newtown, Pa.) was the third Devils runner to finish, placing 43rd overall with a time of 26:39.1. 

Rounding out the Devils top five scorers were sophomores Jessica Fraone (Oakcrest HS/Mays Landing, N.J.) andMily Shah (Eastern Regional HS/Voorhees, N.J.).  Fraone was 49th overall and finished in 27:06.8 while Shah was 59th amongst the 136 finishers with a time of 27:46.7. 

Sophomores Samantha Frear (Tunkhannock HS/Factoryville, Pa.) andBridget Houghton (Cardinal O'Hara HS/Newtown Square, Pa.) along with freshman Emily Brand (Whitehall HS/Whitehall, Pa.) rounded out the Devils competitors in the race.  Frear placed 66th overall with a time of 28:09.7 while Brand finished in 28:46.5.  Houghton finished in 29:25.5.

Next up for the women's cross country team will be the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships on October 25, 2015 at Belmont Plateau.  The women's race starts at 10:00 a.m.
