Brianna Ligotski earned All-Conference honors for the fourth consecutive year as the University of the sciences women's cross country team placed fifth at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship meet at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
Ligotski (Holy Redeemer HS/Hanover Twp., Pa.) ran a season-best time of 20:36.8 to place eighth overall in the meet. Brianna becomes the second Devils runner in program history to earn All-CACC honors four times, joining Joy Aifuwa who was a 4X All-CACC honoree from 2004-2007. Aifuwa was also the first runner in CACC history to earn All-CACC honors four times. Ligotski becomes the 11th CACC cross country runner to earn All-CACC honors four times. The Devils are the only CACC school, along with Philadelphia University to have multiple four-time All-CACC honorees.
The Devils scored 141 points en route to their fifth place finish, with Wilmington University narrowly placing fourth with 139 points. Philadelphia University won the meet for the seventh time in eight years with 31 points. USciences fifth place finish qualifies them to compete at the NCAA East Regionals. This will be the Devils 13th consecutive trip to the regional meet, which will be held on November 8, 2015 in Concord, New Hampshire.
Second to cross the finish line for the Devils was freshman Regan Asay (Ridge HS/Basking Ridge, N.J.). Asay completed the 5,000-meter course in 21:09.4, placing 19th overall. Classmate Emily Brand (Whitehall HS/Whitehall, Pa.) followed, running a personal-best time of 21:46.4 and placing 30th overall.
Rounding out the Devils scorers were senior Grace John (Council Rock North HS/Newtown, Pa.) and sophomore Jessica Fraone (Oakcrest HS/Mays Landing, N.J.). John was 39th overall with a time of 22:12.3 while Fraone was 45th with a time of 22:22.5.
Mily Shah (Eastern Regional HS/Voorhees, N.J.) followed Fraone with a personal-best time of 22:26.8 in 46th place. Samantha Frear (Tunkhannock HS/Factoryville, Pa.) rounded out the Devils competitors with a time of 23:10.8, placing 51st overall.
The Devils last race of the season will be the NCAA East Regional Championship held in Concord, New Hampshire on November 8, 2015.
